Fix Google Ad Grant issues, activation problems, and verification errors.

Most nonprofits don't struggle because they're ineligible. They struggle because five disconnected systems don't always sync. This help center is built to find exactly where yours broke down.

Google Ad Grant help center — fix issues and errors

Why this help center exists

The Google Ad Grant system is five platforms. When any one breaks, the whole thing appears "stuck."

Most nonprofits aren't failing because they lack eligibility. They're failing because of where in this chain something broke down:

1 · Google for Nonprofits

Nonprofit verification portal — must be approved before anything else works.

2 · Percent / TechSoup

External verifier — validates nonprofit status; commonly where applications stall.

3 · Google Ads account

Must be the correct account type — grant accounts are separate from paid accounts.

4 · Grant activation layer

Approval alone doesn't activate — specific steps must be completed after approval.

5 · Policy enforcement

Ongoing compliance requirements — accounts can be suspended for policy violations.

We built this help center to give you a structured way to find the exact break point — so you can fix it instead of waiting.

FAQ

Common questions about Google Ad Grant issues.

Why is my Google Ad Grant stuck?

Most grants get stuck because five systems don't automatically sync: Google for Nonprofits, Percent / TechSoup, the Google Ads account, the grant activation layer, and policy enforcement. When any one breaks, the whole process appears frozen. The fix depends on which system is out of sync.

Why does my account look empty after approval?

An empty account almost always means you're logged into the wrong Google account, viewing the wrong Customer ID, or the grant account was created separately and hasn't been linked. Check that you're using the exact Google account referenced in your approval email.

Why does Google keep asking me to verify my nonprofit?

Google uses four separate systems to verify nonprofits. If any one falls out of sync — mismatched org name, wrong Google account, incomplete Percent verification — Google will continue prompting for reverification. The loop usually resolves once the specific mismatch is fixed.

Is the Google Ad Grant really free?

Yes — up to $10,000/month in free Google Search advertising. If you're being asked for a credit card, you're either in the wrong account or a paid account was accidentally created alongside the grant account.

How long does the full process take?

For most nonprofits: eligibility review (a few days), website compliance fixes if needed (1–2 weeks), Percent verification (3–10 business days), Google review, and campaign launch. Total: 3–6 weeks.
